PRE-SEASON EVALUATIONS

All registered Fredericksburg Little League players are required to attend a pre-season evaluation. (Dates vary per season.)

The evaluation process assesses players’ skill level within different aspects of the game (fielding and hitting). The evaluation typically lasts 90 minutes per division and supports the formation of fair and balanced teams – ensuring a fun season for all!

Families are welcome and encouraged to observe evaluations.

A Coach’s Draft follows evaluations. (Coaches only)

DIVISIONS

• Player evaluations are required for all divisions and are critical in the creation of fair and balanced teams.
• Players who are unable to attend Player Evaluations will still be placed on teams

BASEBALL

Machine Pitch Baseball:

Machine Pitch is for players with a league age of 6-8. (Players with a league age of 6 are required to have played at least one year of t-ball.) Machine Pitch uses an automated machine that pitches to batters, and highlights position player development and continued development of the basic skills. Scores and standings are kept.

• Practice days/times are determined by coaches and field availability.
• We cannot honor special practice day/time requests by individual players.

Minors Baseball:

The Minors Division is for players with a league age of 9-10. The Minors Division is the introduction to player pitching with a continued emphasis on player development. Scores and standings are kept and division plays by regulation Little League rules.

• Practice days/times are determined by coaches and field availability.
• We cannot honor special practice day/time requests by individual players.

Majors Baseball:

The Majors Division is for players with a league age of 11-12. A drop third strike is added in this division. Scores and standings are kept and division plays by regulation Little League rules.

• Practice days/times are determined by coaches and field availability.
• We cannot honor special practice day/time requests by individual players.

Juniors Baseball:

The Juniors Division is for players with a league age of 13-14. The Juniors Division uses a conventional 90-foot diamond with a pitching distance of 60 feet, 6 inches. Scores and standings are kept and division plays by regulation Little League rules.

• Practice days/times are determined by coaches and field availability.
• We cannot honor special practice day/time requests by individual players.

SOFTBALL

Coach Pitch Softball:

Coach Pitch is for players with a league age of 6-8. (Players with a league age of 6 are required to have played at least one year of t-ball.) Coach Pitch introduces a live pitch (from a coach) to batters and highlights position player development and continued development of the basic skills. Scores and standings are kept.

• We cannot honor special practice day/time requests by individual players.

Player Pitch (Minors) Softball:

The Player Pitch (also known as Minors) Division is for players with a league age of 9-10. The Player Pitch Division is the introduction to player pitching with a continued emphasis on player development. Scores and standings are kept and division plays by regulation Little League rules.

• We cannot honor special practice day/time requests by individual players.

Majors Softball:

The Major Division is for players with a league age of 11-12. A drop third strike is added in this division. Scores and standings are kept and division plays by regulation Little League rules.

Juniors Softball:

The Junior League Softball Division is for players with a league age of 13-14. A drop third strike is part of this division. Scores and standings are kept and division plays by regulation Little League rules.

• Practice days/times are determined by coaches and field availability.
• We cannot honor special practice day/time requests by individual players.

ALL-STAR SELECTION PROCESS

The Fredericksburg Little League All-Star Teams are an accumulation of the season’s top performing players within each division, selected to represent Fredericksburg in the post-season District Tournament held annually in June.

How It Works:

Nominations are based on season-long performance.

Player Agent and coaches can evaluate potential players at any time during the regular season. 

Midway through the season, all Head Coaches are invited to submit a list of player nominations for All-Star Team consideration. Nomination list is submitted to the League Commissioner and/or each division’s All-Star Head Coach. (Dates vary per season.)

At the end of the season, an official nomination list will be compiled by the Player Agent, League Commissioner, and Head Coach of each team.   

Final All-Star Team selection is based on attitude, season-wide performance, availability, and a final practice. 

Fredericksburg Little League will follow all Little League All-Star Rules and Guidelines to determine player eligibility.

As a representation of Fredericksburg Little League, all players selected for the team are expected to show a sincere commitment to the team. As with the regular season, the All-Star Team offers significant opportunities to develop self-confidence, discipline, teamwork, grit, camaraderie, and respect.
